Check out Koichi on the edufire.com blog. Described as a rock star Japanese tutor and the Tiger Woods of teaching, the man behind Tofugu.com is in the spotlight again. Combining YouTube popularity with Japanese skills could be a cash cow for Koichi and I wish him all the best with it.
It’s also very interesting to see eduFire for the first time. If you’re an English teacher, it looks like the perfect way to make some money on the side – just put your profile url on your business cards!

Not sure if “cash cow” is the correct word, but hopefully it will pay some of the rent
It’s a great site, I’d definitely encourage anyone who’s interested to set up an account and teach / learn something. I might even start learning Korean, if I can.

Its a great way to teach – I really enjoyed teaching on Globalchat was never sure why it failed but it was a good side income for over a year.
One of the lovely things about teaching online is that you don’t lose your students when they move. Several of my students were learning in advance of a move to the States or Britain and just kept going with their lessons after the move which helped them a lot. The time zone thing was a stretch for me but it was worth it to see how well they did in their new homes and to continue helping them with their goal. One of my students had just had a baby when her husband got a job in New York and I really was something of a life-line a few times when the baby was sick in the middle of their night and I was online!
